from the not-war-but-still-fun dept. Did you see the previous article on the DARPA Grand Challenge? Well, here's the latest -- an in depth look at the teams planning to participate in the Grand Challenge and an overview of some of their problems. Big four wheel drive vehicles, GPS tracking, hitting peak speeds of 50 mph... all without a driver and for a $1 million dollar prize. Of course some teams are spending as much as $5 million on their vehicle, but it's all just part of the fun. The next major deadline is October 14th, when teams will submit proposals for their vehicles. Sounds like this is still a ways off, but it'll be fun to watch as it develops. | ?> ? |
