Minsky's Latest Rant

Minsky is at it again, talking about how AI hasn't really acheived anything and is still failing to address the main points of intelligence. In this EETimes article, he offers us this opinion:
"To me the problem is how to get common sense into computers," said Minsky. "And part of that, it seems to me, is not how to solve any particular problem but how to quickly think of a new way to solve it-perhaps through a change in emotional state-when the usual method doesn't work."

Personally, I wonder if Minsky is just being more vocal due to his forthcoming book, The Emotion Machine. The draft of The Emotion Machine may be found on Minsky's homepage.
