from the dept. In a follow up to scientific journals reviewing ethics, the NYT reports (FRR) that they have decided to tighten up their guidelines. The journal Nature announced it's new policy that financial ties would have to be disclosed after it was discovered that some previous submissions had unrevealed financial biases. When scientists "offer their professional expertise without disclosing potential financial benefits to themselves," the editors wrote, "it threatens to undermine public trust, not simply in a particular paper or journal, but in the integrity of the scientific enterprise as a whole."
