from the dept. Nominations are now being accepted for the prestigious Dr A.H. Heineken Prize for Cognitive Science 2006. This biennial award of USD 150,000, established in 2005, is intended to encourage outstanding
achievements in de field of cognitive science. The award will be awarded to an individual who has made a
major transdisciplinary contribution to the knowledge and insight concerning the mechanisms and
processes underlying the intelligent functioning of humans and animals. The Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) selects the winner of the Dr A.H. Heineken Prize for Cognitive Science on the basis of nominations received from both institutes and individual researchers. The deadline for nomination is: 1 January 2006 The Dr A.H. Previous winners have gone on to win Nobel Prizes and many other major distinctions, clearly affirming the high standards of the Heineken Prizes. They include 2005 Nobel Prize winner Barry Marshall, Christian de Duve, Aaron Klug, Thomas Cech, Paul C. Lauterbur, Paul Nurse and Eric R. Kandel. The Heineken Prizes are awarded by the Dr H.P.
